Transparency in Telegram

Not all operating systems are able to implement transparent or semi-transparent windows without third-party tools. Below we will describe the result of launching custom themes using HEXA colors on all platforms, as well as using various utilities. 

Linux [works out of the box]

The window really becomes transparent. There are small artifacts around, however, they are barely noticeable. Almost all elements work correctly and become transparent. Tested on Ubuntu 20.04.

The disadvantages are as follows:

1. An opaque text input field. This is how the theme is configured, because when the field is translucent, the contents of the field are displayed incorrectly.
2. Artifacts during animations. Any element that appears can freeze in the background and fill it. The fix failed.

Windows [works via software]

As standard, in Windows 10/11, the window gets a black fill. At the same time, transparency works correctly for internal elements: modal windows, left menu or messages.

Transparency can be added if specialized programs are installed. For example, the good old utility "Blend v0.0.0.1" or the more advanced "WindowTop" will help. The window becomes transparent, but gets all the same problems as in Linux: residual artifacts on animations.

The most successful option is to make a completely opaque theme and set the intensity of transparency in a third-party program. Then the number of bugs will be minimized!

Android [not working]

Any at least somewhat transparent tones are always replaced by purple. It is highly not recommended to use HEXA shades.

Mac OS [unknown]

Not tested. We will be grateful for any information from users.
